The Commission on Children was established by the Government on 1 June 2018 to address the diversified issues related to children.  It is an on-going, action-oriented and high-level advisory body which provides overall steer on children initiatives; sets policy directions, strategies and priorities related to the development and advancement of children; and oversees its implementation.

Project Objectives:

  • To cultivate and unleash the sports ability, attention and perseverance of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) through sports;

  • To broaden parents’ principles and skills of raising and educating ADHD children; and

  • To establish a mutual help online group and a support network among parents of ADHD children.

 

Target Participants:

  • Children (aged 4 – 12) with ADHD and their parents.

Project Contents:

Parent coach classroom Live broadcast:

(a) Reasons and principles for nurturing children with ADHD/SEN through sports.
Using the perspective of "natural talents" guides parents to consider guiding their children's learning based on their talents and characteristics.
(b) Comparison of the roles of ADHD/SEN parents and sports psychologists.
Although the roles of parents and coaches are different, both can draw from coaching thinking in training and parenting methods.

Karate Superheroes:

(a) Etiquette, rules, and spirit of karate to enhance children's self-control, adaptability, and attention.
(b) Warm-up, basic movements, and skill practice in karate to improve their motor coordination and willpower.
(c) Sharing of sports psychology techniques.
Applying sports psychology techniques in teaching to encourage participants to engage in learning and actively respond.
